Want to race a highly-tuned RSV4? It’s going to be easier now, thanks to the new Aprilia Racing Certified Dealer program. The program will first launch to the North American market, following globally thereafter, and will take place following the WSBK round at Laguna Seca on Monday, June 25.

Officially launching after World Superbike’s Laguna Seca round next month, the program allows dealership personnel to gain a high level of technical training using information from Aprilia Racing and world championship mechanics.Press releaseIn an effort to better support the global dealer network in providing the best technology and service training, for an increasingly demanding Aprilia owner, Piaggio Group has launched the Aprilia Racing Certified Dealer Program. See the official press release below.

The technical certification focuses on providing a top tier of technological training, based in findings direct from Aprilia Racing and the world championship team mechanics, in order to fully realize the capability of the Aprilia motor, chassis, suspension systems with relation to rider, circuit, and maintenance intervals.

This also ties in with Aprilia’s Factory Works program, which allows buyers to order tuned machines directly from Italy, so they’re already at race-spec at purchase time. This includes details on engine tuning, suspension and chassis tweaks and other information to help racers and mechanics at the dealership level to set their machines up for optimum performance..This program is a direct connection with the Aprilia Racing team in Noale, and further supports the Aprilia Factory Works program, where customers can order race-prepped RSV4 machines, suited to their interests, direct from the race team at the factory
But Indian’s plans will most likely face opposition from President Trump.A representative for Polaris has said a European production facility is a possibility, assembling Indian motorcycles overseas to avoid the import tariff attached by the EU as a retaliation for the US’s recent tariffs on aluminum and steel.

The tariffs will make that hard; a local plant in Europe (Poland has been mentioned as a potential location) could bring the prices back down. While Indian doesn’t sell as many motorcycles in Europe as Harley-Davidson does, they’d still like to keep that market (and grow it)..

Much of the manufacturing process could be completed in Indian’s facility in Iowa, with parts shipped over to Europe to be reassembled as a knock-down kit.President Trump’s trade war with the European Union has seen a couple new twists, with Polaris now thinking about an overseas factory for Indian, and Trump attacking Harley-Davidson on Twitter for contemplating the same thing. Ever since Harley-Davidson announced it had plans for overseas productions to avoid tariffs,

Trump has been taking jabs at the MoCo via Twitter, claiming other companies are looking to move production to the US and that Harley-Davidson is going to end scooter manufacturers up a loser if it starts building bikes overseas—hardly morale-boosting stuff for the company’s employees at this difficult time.

And, thanks to this video, we know what the new machine will look like. According to the video, we’re going to see it at Intermot next week, whereupon we can all argue whether it really does carry designer Hans Muth’s design cues into the 21st century. The lines on the machine appearing mid-video certainly recall the all-purpose Katanas of the 1980s, with some wind protection, but not full-on race style bodywork. What could be better?.It seems Suzuki plans to revive its much-loved line of Katana streetbikes this fall
